'Half Life 3' News, Release Date: Game Title Set For 2018 Launch; Geared For VR Compatibility?
New details on the release date of Valve's "Half-Life 3" have surfaced. Along with this are rumors that the game is geared for Virtual Reality compatibility.
Valve's forthcoming game title is set to be released in 2018, Christian Times has learned. As per the publication, speculations are eyeing on a 2018 release, since it marks "Half-Life 3's" celebration of its 20th anniversary. However, the information is viewed as a grain of salt, as Valve has not made an official announcement with regard the matter.
"Half-Life 3" is attached to "Half-Life 2: Episode 3," which was announced by Valve in 2006. It is revealed that the title was bound for release in the fourth quarter of 2007; however, it failed to materialize. As per Polygon, the company had lost its eagerness in releasing the titles, as "Half-Life" write Marc Laidlaw was no longer working with the company.
Valve head Gabe Newell made a clarification on the reason behind Valve's freezing of its plans to release a new "Half-Life" title. In his interview with Game Slice, he said that the only reason they would go back and do a super classic kind of product was if a whole bunch of people just internally at Valve had said they had wanted to do it and had had a reasonable explanation for why.
According to Christian Today, "Half-Life 3" is also set to integrate the Virtual Reality or VR technology, which starts a trend in the tech and gaming realm. The innovation was aimed particularly for the HTC's Vive, which has just come out in the market.
Overall, Valve's "Half-Life 3" is assumed to come out in 2018 and details are expected at the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016.
