'Hacksaw Ridge' Release Date: Movie Filming Started In Sydney, Casts Members and Plot Revealed?

Mel Gibson is back on the director's chair for his new movie "Hacksaw Ridge." Based on a true story, the film that depicts the World War II started filming.

Gibson and the whole team are in Sydney, Australia for the shoot. He revealed on Mail Online that the story is "about a man who wouldn't touch a weapon and wanted to be part of saving lives in the worst place on earth." 

"I mean Okinawa was an horrific place," the director added, "there were over 300,000 casualties, mostly civilian." The website was also able to take pictures of the team while working on set.

Based on their description, the location has an "impressive authenticity," that depicts the genuine military setting during the historic war. War tanks are visible throughout the location as well as the extras who are wearing military khaki pants.

The war-themed drama film stars "The Amazing Spiderman" actor Andrew Garfield who will be playing as the main character, Desmond T. Doss, who is widely known for saving 75 men in Okinawa without firing a gun. He will be joined by "The Wedding Crashers" star Vince Vaughan. 

IMDb lists other casts include Teresa Palmer, Luke Bracey, Sam Worthington, Hugo Weaving, and Rachel Griffiths to name a few. Mel Gibson is joined by Gregory Cosby and Andrew Knight for the screenplay.

So far, this is Mel Gibson's fifth time to direct. He is highly known for the movies "Braveheart," "Apocalypto," "The Passion of the Christ," and "The Man Without A Face."

"Hacksaw Ridge" is expected to be completed later this year. However, the official trailer and the release date remains unknown.
