'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Spoilers, News: Upcoming Movie to be Filmed in Atlanta, Cast Details
'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' director James Gunn has revealed that Marvel Cinematic Universe's sequel to the epic superhero movie is scheduled to be filmed in Atlanta. The revelation was made at an "impromptu" Q&A session on Gunn's Facebook page.
In reply to a query from a user, who asked Gunn if he has plans to visit DragonCon, a renowned multi-genre annual convention set in Atlanta, Georgia, the director said, "Maybe. I'm gonna try. Because we're filming in Atlanta, I hope it works out for my schedule."
According to Christian Today, this is an indication that the unit may not film 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' in the Pinewood Atlanta Studios, the site where Marvel's 'Ant-Man' was filmed. It is worth mentioning here that the original 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was filmed in two places - Longcross Studios and Shepperton Studios, which is under the jurisdiction of the U.K.-based Pinewood Studios Group.
As far as the storyline of the 'Guardians of Galaxy' sequel is concerned, it is expected that the entire ragtag group members will be returning. For instance, space adventurer Peter Quill alias Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), the ever mysterious alien diva Gamora (Zoe Saldana), treelike-humanoid and fan-favorite Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), the ever angry Drax the Destroyer (wrestler Dave "Batista" Bautista) as well as the professional gun-toting marksman Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) will all return to the upcoming movie to reprise their respective characters.
In addition to sharing the upcoming movie's filming location and cast members, Gunn has also revealed his plans to move away from the comics and launch a big-screen adaptation of Peter Quill's father in 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2.'
In addition, it also seems that a new superhero will be introduced in 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2.' Earlier, it was rumored that it would be Captain Marvel, who will be appearing in a film of her own soon. Gunn, however, refuted the rumors related to her inclusion in the upcoming movie. Latest speculations suggest that Adam Warlock, Mantis, Moondragon, and Phyla-Vell, all of whom have appeared and portrayed major roles in the comics on which the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was based, may be appearing in the new movie.
'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' may also feature characters like Nebula (Karen Gillan), The Collector (Benicio Del Toro), Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Kraglin (Sean Gunn).
As is stands, 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' is slated for July 28, 2017 premiere.
