'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Plot News: Will Collector’s Character Feature in 'Avengers: Infinity War'?

'Guardians of the Galaxy' featured actor Benicio Del Toro in the role of Collector, which was a minor role in the movie. Hence, Del Toro is not certain if his character will be returning in Marvel's eagerly expected sequel to the superhero movie. Nevertheless, the actor seems to be hopeful.

Recently, Del Toro told IGN, "I would like to keep working on that character, though," adding, "It was kind of like a cameo. I would like to keep developing the character based on what's written in the comic books. I'd like to see some different sides."

According to Christian Today, the actor told the website that he also wants to be part of 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2,' because he not only loved working on the first film, but also with the people associated with it. He said, "I had a blast working with [director] James Gunn and the cast - but it's not up to me."

As the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' will be exploring into the past of Star-Lord and with Gunn planning to alter things just for the film, the rumor mill is abuzz that the character of Collector may feature as the father of the superhero in the movie. However, nothing is certain as of now and like Del Toro, even fans can only hope.

IGN further states that with the storyline of 'Infinity Gauntlet' being fleshed out in future Marvel movies and the Collector being involved in them, it is assumed that fans will see more of the immortal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in all probability even in 'Avengers: Infinity War.'

In the meantime, Del Toro said that enjoyed doing the character of the oldest living beings in the universe in the Marvel flick. He actor said that he "learned a lot about the character" while preparing for the role and also with the studio helping him to channel his inner Collector.

In the interview with IGN, the actor said, "One of the most interesting things that I learned about him is the reasons that he's collecting." Del Toro added, "He sees himself as putting together Noah's Ark. He sees himself as having that responsibility. He's collecting things, because eventually there's going to be an apocalypse in the universe and he wants to get things to safety. That's a really interesting aspect of the character."

'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' will hit the theaters on May 5, 2017.
