'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' News: Vin Diesel Confirms 'Guardians' and 'Avengers' Mash-Up

"Avengers: Infinity War" is set to feature superheroes from the "Guardians of the Galaxy," as revealed by Hollywood actor Vin Diesel.

The actor has let slip the explosive Marvel news during a Facebook Live video on August 19. The live video appeared on his personal Facebook page, after hitting a significant milestone for having 100 million followers.

Vin Diesel, who voices talking tree Groot in "Guardians of the Galaxy," gave fans some concrete details on the crossover when he said in the video, "The 'Guardians' will be included in 'Avengers: Infinity War,' and that's incredibly exciting. You were told before everybody."

"Guardians of the Galaxy" featured Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper, while "Avengers: Infinity War" will feature Marvel superheroes from across 18 films.

No details have been added yet about the upcoming film, but it is speculated that their appearance will be set up in the "Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2" which is set to premiere next year, despite it being initially considered a standalone film.

"Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2" is due in May next year and will reunite the original ensemble cast of the film, along with Michael Rooker, Glenn Close and Karen Gillan.

The "Guardians"/ "Avengers" mash-up has been circulating since long before "Age of Ultron" hit the big screen. Two years ago, Marvel's Kevin Feige confirmed that a crossover will indeed happen between the two franchises but revealed nothing as to the timeline.

"Avengers: Infinity War" is set for release sometime in May 2018, about a year after the release of "Guardians of the Galaxy vol.2."
