'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Spoilers, Rumors: Movie to Have Less Characters than the First?
With the recent announcement of his completed 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' script, James Gunn hosted a Periscope stream on Twitter where he spoke a bit more on his highly anticipated sequel film.
Gunn will be striving to make this movie a bit more personal than the last as he states that there won't be as much characters in the sequel. The director did an amazing job of thoroughly introducing very obscure characters to the MCU in the first film and he now wants to fully flesh them out in this upcoming one.
He explains:
"People ask for so many characters to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and they ask for so many actors who they want to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but we actually have less characters in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 than we have in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 because everything is just getting too sprawling and too crazy for me in these superhero comic book movies. There's just too many characters so you can't concentrate on one and really get to know that character, and I really want to get to know the characters that we know better."
Alot of Phase 3 movies in the MCU are planning on introducing a whole host of new heroes and villains, most notably 'Captain America: Civil War,' so it's good to know that Gunn won't be attempting to follow suit.
It's been confirmed that the staple cast of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, and Dave Bautista will all be back to reprise their roles. Villains such as Ronan the Accuser have been said to not be back in this sequel.
'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' drops into theaters May 5, 2017.
