'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' News: James Gunn Reveals True Title
With the impending buzz around James Gunn sequel to 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' the official title for the second film has finally been revealed.
Gunn made the official announcement on both his Twitter and Facebook page after Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige let it slip in a recent press conference for 'Ant-Man.'
The director also gave a shoutout to some of the fans that guessed the title after he posted the picture of his finished script.
He writes:
"Yes, the official title of the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I'm really happy about because God knows I've let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page.
Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" - I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait.
For Kevin to mess up. Haha.
PS ANT-MAN PREMIERE TONIGHT AND I AM STOKED!"
The sequel title serves as a nod to Peter Quill's Awesome Mix Vol. 1 from the first film. It's probably safe to assume that fans can expect a Vol. 2 with the next installment.
Gunn hasn't revealed a lot about the film yet but confirms that it will be more emotional.
"I think it's a more emotional movie," he told Collider. "It's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters."
'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' will hit theaters on May 5, 2017.
