'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Movie News: James Gunn & Marvel Not Attending Comic-Con 2015?

Some fairly disappointing news came from the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn recently about the attendance of Marvel and himself at Comic-Con this year. In a recent Facebook Q&A, a fan asked Gunn if he would be at this year's Comic-Con and his simple answer was:

"I'm not sure. Marvel isn't going so I'm not sure I will either."

The news is almost unbelievable, but the director has never been known to fib or come short with his fans.

Marvel's appearance at the largest comic book event in the country is practically signature and is one of the sole reasons why a lot of the fans even attend. Their conferences are the biggest and most anticipated events of the weekend.

"Now that they are with Disney, the studio is able to hold events at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood as well as the D23 Expo in Anaheim. The thing is, that's not where the roots of Marvel Studios lie. Their roots are grounded at San Diego Comic-Con. That where fans from all over the world come to take in all things geek, and I hate thinking that Marvel won't be there to help fuel that geekdom," writes Geek Tyrant.

It's especially disappointing with all the material that they could reveal this year, from the 'Captain America: Civil War' movie that comes out next year, to the massive Spider-Man speculation.

On that note, Marvel has yet to comment on James Gunn's statement.
