'Guardians of The Galaxy 2' Cast News: Benicio Del Toro Talks 'GotG' Sequel and MCU

Starting Friday, June 26th, Benicio Del Toro can be seen as one of the most notorious and successful drug lords in the world in Escobar: Paradise Lost.

The actor's fate in Marvel, however, does not seem settled. In an interview, he stated that he was not sure that he would be appearing in the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

He did state however, that he would love the opportunity to continue working with that character. "I would like to keep working on that character, though," said the actor. "It was kind of like a cameo. I would like to keep developing the character based on what's written in the comic books. I'd like to see some different sides. I had a blast working with James Gunn and the cast - but it's not up to me."

Of course, Marvel has already weaved the Collector's role into the larger Infinity Gauntlet storyline. This makes it unlikely that we have seen the last of that character.

When Del Toro was asked whether or not the studio had pointed him in any specific direction during his research to prepare for playing the character, he did say that there was one element of the character that stood out as being significant.

After looking through volumes and volumes, he said the studio did point him in the right direction so he could learn a lot about the character.

"One of the most interesting things that I learned about him is the reasons that he's collecting," said Del Toro. "He sees himself as putting together Noah's Ark. He sees himself as having that responsibility."

This leaves the possibility of the character making an appearance in the next couple of Avengers movies.
