'GTA VI' Release Date Rumors: Will Grand Theft Auto 6' Release Before 2018?
While Rockstar Games has yet to make any official announcement regarding 'Grand Theft Auto VI,' as the company has been busy with 'Grand Theft Auto V', which was recently released for Microsoft Windows with an additional FPS mode that changes the gameplay radically.
Citing a report in Master Herald, Christian Today states that soon Rockstar Games may make an announcement that they will release a sixth title in the main series by 2018. In fact, this would be five years after the release of 'Grand Theft Auto V' mirroring the five-year gap between 'GTA IV,' which was released in 2008, and 'GTA V,' which came out in 2013.
Nevertheless, there is some inconsistency as the gap between 'GTA III' and 'GTA IV' was a total of seven years. Despite being an individual game title, 'Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas' continues to be a part of the 'GTA III' trilogy.
The report in Master Herald further states that there are reports that actor Ryan Gosling will offer his voice for the lead character. Another report in RealtyToday states that Eva Mendez, Gosling's wife, is rumored to play the female lead of the upcoming game. However, neither the actors nor Rockstar has responded to these rumors so far.
Currently, it is not clear if 'GTA VI' will have only one main lead character or the new game will also follow the trend started by 'GTA V' and include several characters that gamers can control concurrently. 'Grand Theft Auto V' has not only proved to be immensely successful, but it also allows for a deeper, diverse story resembling numerous gangster films and television series, which has inspired the development of the games.
Meanwhile, Latino Post stated that Rockstar Games may concentrate on releasing 'Red Dead Redemption 2' before turning their focus on a sixth 'Grand Theft Auto' title.
Latino Post quotes Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick saying, "The risk of just releasing more games is that you end up just bulking up your release schedule and that isn't really what consumers want. Consumers want better, not more."
