'GTA V' Festive Surprise Update, Patch Notes: Christmas Spirit Hits Los Santos in GTA Online [DETAILS]
Rockstar Games has just announced that it will be bringing Christmas to Los Santos this year as a new update to 'Grand Theft Auto V' is ready for gamers. The seasonal update effects GTA Online in a few different ways, and a round up of all the changes is a good way to find out what's new.
Weapons - Homing Missile Launcher and Proximity Mines are now available, but these don't seem to be very seasonal additions. However, Rockstar ensures that they've put these in "to make spirits bright."
Snow Days - There's going to be some strange weather in Los Santos as snow will stack up for the first time in the city. Players will be able to take advantage of this as they can engage in snowball fights. In that regard, Rockstar warns, "But be forewarned, those icy little suckers can pack a wallop,"
Free Christmas Gear and Masks - No Christmas in GTA Online would be complete without ugly Christmas sweaters and other holiday-themed items. For the update, Rockstar provides a free cookie-face mask as well some other items free of charge.
Four New Vehicles - This holiday season players will be able to cruise around Los Santos in style as they can now drive the Hot Rod Christmas Ratloader and Slam Van, or they can deck your Massacro and Jester sports cars with new Race liveries. Rockstar notes, "These vehicles will be permanently available to acquire and keep."
Holiday Special Crate Drops - Gamers should look to the skies as special crate drops will happen up until January 5. Within the crate, players should expect to find special and rare items that cannot be found anywhere else.
Christmas Day Gifts - Rockstar did not forget the spirit of Christmas and is going to throw in special items into the player's inventory if and when they step into their GTA Online apartment. The gifts will be given out on December 25.
New Year's Eve - With all this holiday spirit in GTA Online, Rockstar couldn't forget about New Year's Day as players will avail a Firework Launcher and Firework Rocket Ammo that lets them shoot fireworks into the sky.
Beyond all that, Rockstar said in their Newswire "Today's new Title Update (1.19 for PS3/Xbox 360, 1.05 for PS4/Xbox One) also includes the ability to own a third property as mentioned above along with other new features, fixes and improvements to the game for all systems."
