'GTA 6' Release Date Rumors: Rockstar Talks Setting & Limitless Possibilities

It has been roughly a year since Rockstar released the widely popular 'Grand Theft Auto V', currently on PS3 and Xbox 360 and there are already talks about the next installment in the series. Grand Theft Auto 6, adapted for the Xbox One and PS4, is rumored to be released in 2017.

Although still a concept in Rockstar's board rooms, President Leslie Benzies stated that the follow up to 'GTA 5' will be something created with the ideas they currently have.

"We've got about 45 years' worth of ideas we want to do," Benzies told Develop in an interview. "We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas." However, GTA 6 is not yet on their drawing board as they need to go through the planned GTA Online updates first before anything else.

"GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain't no rest between finishing 'V' and then Online. Plus we have some other things -- stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly -- that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones," Benzies continued.

With regards to the setting of 'GTA 6', fans have been wildly speculating as to where it may be. Some possible places include Paris, London, Brazil and the city of sin, Las Vegas.

In an interview with GameRant during the release of 'GTA 5' with Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser, he gave his thoughts on how they're considering any possibility with the future of the franchise.

"At the moment it feels like [Grand Theft Auto's] D.N.A. is contemporary-ish, America-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that's what it has been... But that doesn't necessarily limit it to those, that's just what we've done so far."

According to Houser, switching the settings for the game in the future is far from impossible as they said they won't limit the game to what it has been all throughout the years.

There have also been talks about possible new characters that could grace the GTA scene; however, there is no concrete evidence to confirm this.
