'GTA 6' Release Date Rumors: Rockstar Talks New Title, Game May Arrive in 2017

Having released 'Grand Auto Theft 5' for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 earlier this year, Rockstar Games is now said to be working on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, which are slated for release this Fall. Nevertheless, fans have already begun speculating about 'GTA 6' and its probable release date.

It is being speculated that Rockstar Games will release 'Grand Theft Auto 6' sometime in 2017. Although it's nothing more than a rumor at this stage, fans believe that it is likely to materialize. In fact, Rockstar Games has not made any mention about the sequel to 'GTA 5' so far, but they did drop some hints during a few recent interviews.

In an interview with Leslie Benzies, Rockstar North President, "We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what 'GTA VI' will be, but we've got some ideas." This has encouraged fans to believe that with these kinds of immense ideas, three years should be enough time for the developer to plan and implement everything.

Benzies also said, "GTA Online is the focus right now. There ain't no rest between finishing 'V' and then Online. Plus we have some other things -- stuff, DLC, I don't know how to describe it exactly -- that we'd like to do, and we'll pick the right ones," making it clear that "GTA 6" is not in the talks right as of that moment."

Meanwhile, speaking at the release event of 'GTA V' in January, Dan Houser, Rockstar North co-founder, talked about his idea regarding the future of the game, which could be considered as a prediction for 'GTA 6'.

Houser said, "At the moment it feels like (Grand Theft Auto's) D.N.A. is contemporary-ish, America-ish, English-speaking-ish, because that's what it has been... But that doesn't necessarily limit it to those, that's just what we've done so far."

To some fans, this sounds as if the developers are open to and contemplating adding new character races.

As far as the location of the purported 'Grand Theft Auto 6" is concerned, several places are being speculated, including Las Vegas, London, Brazil and Paris. However, in an interview with Baller Status, DJ Whoo Kid, whose songs have been incorporated in 'GTA' games, said that a new game would coming back to Liberty City.
