GTA 6 Release Date, Rumors: Rockstar Games Taking Time to Get Grand Theft Auto 6 Just Right

Although latest rumors suggest that Rockstar Games may be already preparing for the future release of "Grand Auto Theft 6" for the PC, Xbox One and PS4, the New York City-based video game company is yet to confirm any details about the developments. However, the company has promised that any forthcoming ventures in the GTA world will include new features and ideas that will keep fans hooked.

The huge success of "Grand Auto Theft 5" has raised expectations of GTA fans, and now they want the game to be released on the next-gen consoles, including the PS4 and Xbox One, in addition to the PC.

Also recently there was an interview with Ballerstatus, DJ Whoo Kid, who talked about putting his music in video games and dropped a big hint about the future of the franchise. He said, "I was in 'Call of Duty' and I was in some 'Grand Theft Auto' games. I'm about to be in the new 'Grand Theft Auto' that takes place in New York again."

Those comments seemingly gave an indication that the video game company is developing one more title set in the imaginary Liberty City, which has been developed on the lines of NYC? In fact, Rockstar's "GTA 3" and "GTA 4" were also set in this fictional city, and the comments have pointed fans that way again.

While the hip hop artist may be talking about an expansion of "GTA 5" based in Liberty City, last October Rockstar president and video game producer Leslie Benzies told Develop, "We've got about 45 years' worth of ideas we want to do," adding, "We don't know what 'GTA 6' will be, but we've got some ideas."

Currently Rockstar is focused on developing and improving the content of GTA Online as well as GTA DLC, while the rumor mill is working overtime over the probable release date of the next game of the franchise - anticipated to be "GTA 6".

Rockstar released GTA 5 nearly five years after launching GTA 4. Precisely speaking, GTA 4 was launched in 2008, about three years after the launch of the Xbox 360 and two years after the launch of the PS3.

Some fans expect the video game company to follow a similar pattern when considering the launches of the Xbox One and PS4. This means that there will be a gap of no less than three to four years between the release dates of "GTA 5" and the next offering.

Irrespective of the anticipated game's release date, there is no doubt that the next game of the franchise is on its way. Benzies indicated that fans should not expect GTA 6 soon, but that strongly hinted it is already being worked on - just to make the top game and maintain the quality it would take some time: "We won't be doing things every year in a cycle. A year just isn't long enough to do this job. It might have been on the old consoles, but not on this."
