'GTA 6' Release Date News, Update, Rumors: Rockstar Already In Initial Development For Sixth Installment?
Despite the rumors about the "Grand Theft Auto 6" being shelved due to the success of the "GTA Online," a new round of speculation alleged that those talks couldn't be further from the truth.
In fact, a report from Tech Radar claimed that Rockstar is already in initial development for "Grand Theft Auto" although there's no release date for the title.
"It's not unusual that Rockstar would begin laying the early foundations for its next Grand Theft Auto so soon - It's been more than two years since the initial release of GTA 5," it said.
Meanwhile, Rockstar president Leslie Benzies confirmed the news report about "Grand Theft Auto 6" not being shelved. The lack of details, however, should not be cause for concern.
"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do," she told IGN. "We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas."
For now there's no location yet for the "Grand Theft Auto 6."
"Where is it going to be set is the first question," she explained. "Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in LA than in New York or Miami. The map and story get worked up together, and the story is a basic flow of how it works out so you can layer the missions in."
Since the launch of "GTA Online," Rockstar earned more than $500 million in micro-purchases, according to multiple reports, which prompted rumors that the developer would just focus on the DLC instead of developing "Grand Theft Auto 6."
