GTA 5 Online Update: Lindsay Lohan Sues Rockstar for Stealing Her Likeness
In latest GTA 5 and GTA Online news, Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan is suing Rockstar Games for allegedly stealing her likeness in the critically acclaimed game.
Lohan claims the videogame character Lacey Jones was modeled after her without her permission. The GTA 5 storyline involves Jones, who is a troubled actress that has several issues with the paparazzi being that they constantly harasses her on streets of Los Santos.
Lohan filed the lawsuit on her 28th birthday on July 2, where she also claims the gaming company stole everything from her including her voice and her style.
In addition, Lohan alleges that the company modeled a hotel in the game after the popular Chateau Marmont in Hollywood, California.
Lohan is not the first celebrity to sue GTA 5, Mob Wives star Karen Gravano announced in February that she would sue Rockstar Games because she believes the developers used her image and her life story in the game.
"Notwithstanding the fact that plaintiff [Gravano] has the utmost respect for the writers and creators of the Grand Theft Auto V video game...her story is unique and is hers to tell," according to the lawsuit that was filed on February 24.
The character who Salvatore (Sammy the Bull) Gravano's daughter claimed was modeled after her biography and likeness was Antonia Bottino, the daughter of ex-Gambetti family underboss Sammy (Sonny) Bottino.
In addition, rapper Daz Dillinger wanted the game to be recalled after two of his song were allegedly included without his permission.
"[It's about] respecting an artist's work. Rockstar didn't do that here and I can't let them get away with it," said Dillinger to TMZ in October 2013.
Rockstar Games released the popular game GTA 5 on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in US stores on September 17, 2013; while GTA Online was released on October 1, 2013.
The newest port of GTA 5 will arrive in stores for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One in Fall 2014.
