Meredith Grey will wear her heart on her sleeve in "Grey's Anatomy" season 13.

The upcoming season follows Meredith as she develops a liking for Dr. Nathan Riggs. Fans speculate that the romance between the two doctors will be real this time, especially since many of the scenes featured in the previous season showed both of them getting intimate with each other. 

In season 12, several issues got in the way of the two. However, those issues also seemed to forecast that a relationship was brewing between them. Meredith found comfort in Dr. Nathan when Dr. Derek Shepherd passed away. With Dr. Nathan beside her, Meredith was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

A recent interview with Henderson hinted that Meredith's hookup with Nathan may actually go someplace in season 13.

"I think that's always really powerful between a couple. This may be a fertile ground for them to actually have a relationship with some meaning," he said.

While things are getting better for the two doctors, things will get complicated between Meredith and her sister Maggie as Meredith finds out that her sister is also setting her eyes on Dr. Nathan. Fans speculate that Meredith would not want to hurt her sister's feelings, so her relationship with Dr. Nathan should brace up for a bumpy road ahead.

It remains to be seen how the feud between the two sisters will affect Meredith and Nathan's relationship next season.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 13 premieres on September 22 on ABC.
