Latest reports reveal the 'Grey's Anatomy' showrunner Shonda Rhimes has finally found an actor who will be replacing Patrick Dempsey in the upcoming season of the medical television drama on ABC. It has been reported that Martin Henderson will be the new McDreamy in the show.

Citing the 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 spoilers posted in Deadline, Kdramastars reports that Martin Henderson will join the medical drama after Patrick Dempsey's dismissal. While the character details of McDreamy have not been revealed yet, latest reports state that the actor will be the new surgeon in the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

In 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 episode titled 'How to Save a Life,' fans saw Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) being killed after he was hit by a truck. Subsequently, the episode jumped by a year after the horrible tragedy showing Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeop) apparently moving on from her husband's death.

Now, it remains to be seen whether or not Henderson's character will be the new love interest of Meredith Grey. An earlier report in Kdramastars stated that the ABC executives were then "looking to add a major new male presence" with a view to conciliate fans who were upset over Derek's death. Since the announcement of Henderson joining the show, many fans of 'Grey's Anatomy' have been speculating that the new doctor would also take Derek's place in Meredith's life.

Then again, some 'Grey's Anatomy' spoilers have hinted that even Meredith will be killed off in Season 12. Zap2It said that she could also be exiting the show soon, as she is battling with Alzheimer's disease.
