'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12 Cast News: Martin Henderson Cast for Season 12
Season 12 of Grey's Anatomy will feature a new doctor, who could possibly be Patrick Dempsey's character, Derrick Shepherd's, replacement.
According to reports from Deadline, Martin Henderson has been cast by ABC and the creator of the series, Shonda Rhimes to star in the show.
Although his role has not been revealed as yet, it has been rumored that he will be playing a new surgeon at Seattle Grace Memorial Hospital.
This is not the first time that Henderson and Rhimes will be collaborating.
In the past, Henderson, a New Zealand born actor, starred in Rhimes' 2009 drama, called Inside the Box, as well as her 2011 show, Off the Map.
According to TV Line, Henderson will be appearing on Grey's Anatomy during the season premiere for its twelfth season which will be airing in September.
Henderson's casting as a character on Grey's Anatomy was confirmed after Jason George, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey's husband, Ben, was promoted to a series regular.
There were also reports recently that Rhimes is looking for a new male actor who could replace Dempsey's character on the show.
So far, the details about what fans can expect in the new season of Grey's Anatomy have been few and far between.
Fans do not know yet what they will be able to expect from their favorite characters.
However, in season eleven, Rhimes did reveal that many of the characters on the show will be entering new territories after Shepherd's death.
Grey's Anatomy season twelve will premiere on September 24 on ABC.
