When Season 11 of the popular medical drama on ABC 'Grey's Anatomy' returns after a brief winter hiatus on Jan. 29 with Episode 9 titled "Where Do We Go From Here," fans will be eagerly waiting to know what is in store for their favorite couples, who were seen passing through hard times in the mid-season finale aired in November 2014.

Going by a report in the IBTimes, in 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11, Episode 8 titled "Risk," viewers saw Derek leaving Seattle for Washington D.C. to lead the brain-mapping project. Ever since, there have been speculations that Derek and Meredith were possibly going to split. In fact, these rumors gained ground despite the show executive producer Shonda Rhimes reiterating that there was no possibility of Derek and Meredith to part ways.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year Rhimes said, "It feels very TV for people's marriages to end over easy things or hard things." She added, "I actually would like to watch a couple have a hard time in their marriage, and have it not be that that means their marriage is over. There's something really great about watching a couple have a mature marriage where stuff goes wrong, things are hard, and people try to push through it and figure it out."

On the other hand, things seem to be bleak Callie and Arizona, because the couple has not been able to sort out their problems even after therapy. Apart from this, viewers saw in the mid-season finale that Callie was doing better without her cheating partner.

There is yet another couple which is facing several problems. Hence, the upcoming episodes are likely to focus on Jackson and April and the problems faced by the couple. In the mid-season finale, viewers also saw Stephanie learning that the couple's baby is enduring a rare disease. While the marriage of Jackson and April is certainly strong, fans would be waiting eagerly to know what effect this shocking news has on their relationship.

Meanwhile, 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 episode 9 spoilers talks about a budding romance between Amelia and Owen, as Cristina does not figure in the scene any more. When asked to comment on the possibility of a romance between these two doctors, McKidd, who portrays Owen in the show, told The Hollywood Reporter, "That could be interesting," adding, "I'd like to explore that for the character. I think Shonda is interested in that idea. The damage of those two characters could really be interesting to put together. It could create a lot of comedy."
