The rumor mill has been abuzz with the death of Dempsey's character Derek since last week when fans saw his wife Meredih worrying about his whereabouts. On the contrary, the promo for 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 11 episode 21 titled 'How to Save a Life,' which will air on Thursday, April 23, revealed that Derek is alive and doing just fine.

Quoting the official synopsis of 'How to Save a Life,' IB Times reports that Derek could not make it to his meeting in Washington DC, as he witnesses a car accident and, being a doctor, he gets into action quickly to save the victims. The official synopsis reads, "Derek sees a ghastly accident and jumps into action to help the wounded."

In the promo video clip for 'Grey's Anatomy Season 11 episode 21, fans can see that all the victims of the car accident are minors. It shows Derek telling one of the victims, who is covered in her blood, that he won't let anyone die. However, in the next moment one of the smashed vehicles explode into flames and this makes fans worry about Derek's future.

Although Dempsey is signed on for two more years of the popular medical drama on ABC officially, majority of fans are of the view that showrunner Shonda Rhimes will somehow kill off the character before the end of Season 11.

According to the report, while one fan of the show wrote, "What a way to kill him off!!! This is his last season, but I never imagined they would make him more lovable right before killing him and breaking everyone's hearts!," another noted that as Meredith sees red and blue lights flashing from a police car near her window, she can only think of trouble.

The second fan tweeted, "Im not ready for next week's episode I'm just not ready and the title how to save a life and the explosion and Meredith and police cars." According to IB Times, yet another fan echoed comparable sentiments, writing: "I can't think of why the police would come to Meredith's house if Derek wasn't dead. I'm really hoping he isn't."
