In this week's episode of "Grey's Anatomy," fans discover what Derek was actually doing in DC, Owen confronts his mother about her much younger boyfriend, and Jo gets an interesting patient with a little friend that just won't let go.

Previously Meredith was suspicious of Derek cheating on her while away on his trip to DC. Derek came back and Meredith believed he only returned because he knew he was in trouble. When he said otherwise, viewers were then shown a flashback.

Derek was impressed with his new DC colleague, Renee. The two were a good team as they made a breakthrough discovery on how to cure autism in a very early morning lab session. The two, upon their discovery, shared a passionate kiss when Derek pulled away. He told Renee he couldn't do this and left the lab without his wallet and phone.

Fast forward to the present and Derek says to Meredith, "I thought DC was everything, and I was wrong. You... you're everything." In response, she said, "I can live without you... but I don't want to." For now, it looks like the relationship will survive.

Owen's mother, Evelyn, is admitted into the hospital only to find a very young man accompanying her. Apparently, this is his mother's new boyfriend. Owen does not like this and confronts Evelyn, saying the he doesn't want her hurt and embarrassed. Evelyn decided to break it off with her boyfriend but is admitted to the hospital again due to the situation. Owen realizes that he ended up hurting her and told her she could date whomever she wanted to.

Jo's new patient complains of bloody noses and headaches. She discovers that the patient has a leech up her nose. The leech is extracted, and Jo ends up keeping it as a pet.
