'Green Lantern' Movie Reboot News: Actor Tyrese Gibson Says He Met Warner Bros. Executives

Some time back, R&B sincer and actor Tyrese Gibson had revealed that he is keen to portray the character of Green Lantern on the silver screen. Now, Gibson has confirmed that he has already had a discussion with the Warner Bros. executives regarding the possibility of his involvement in the movie.

Christian Today reports that in an exclusive statement to Collider at the recently concluded 'Furious 7' Blue-ray press outing in Abu Dhabi, the actor said, "I've already had a couple of meetings at Warner Bros., so we'll see what happens."

According to the report, the Grammy-nominated artist also provided details as to why he is so serious about portraying the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern in a movie. Gibson is quoted as saying there ought to be more black superheroes portrayed onscreen. He, however, clarified that currently this is not his main motivation.

The 36-year-old singer/ actor said, "I think I would be the best Green Lantern and based on my fans and supporters that spent around $6 billion in box office receipts, I feel like there's a fanbase of fans out there waiting to see me put on this green suit and do my thing."

Reports about Gibson's possible involvement in the "Green Lantern" reboot began early this year, after the actor posted the artwork made by a fan back in January on his Instagram account. The actor was shown wearing the Green Lantern costume of John Stewart, DC Comics' first black superhero and one of the most famous members of the Green Lantern Corps.

Gibson, however, clarified that no formal agreement has been achieved as of his last meeting with Warner executives. "I would love to confirm something today, but I can't. We'll just keep following up," the actor said.

Apart from Gibson, there are rumors regarding the prospect of bringing the other Green Lantern character Hal Jordan in the upcoming reboot of the 2011 'Green Lantern' film starring Ryan Reynolds. Some reports claimed that while Reynolds has no plan ti return to the franchise, actor Chris Pines might take over his role.

The 'Green Lantern' reboot is slated to premiere sometime in 2020.
