'Grand Theft Auto 6' Set in Chicago Hoax News: Upcoming 'GTA VI' Game Rumors Slammed

New reports have surfaced saying that the next installment in Rockstar's 'Grand Theft Auto' series will be set in a city based on Chicago. However, in the end, the reports turned out to be a hoax, as a satirical website was responsible for the story.

Apparently, some Twitter users fell for the original story that was posted on the satire website Huzlers, and posted comments about the fake news.

One person writes on Twitter, "The next GTA is going to be based in Chicago? Not entirely sure how I feel about this."

"GTA COMES TO CHICAGO!!!!!" wrotes another Twitter user.

In the end, the news about 'Grand Theft Auto VI' has been proven to be false, the game will not necessarily be set in a city based on Chicago.

The original news article from Huzlers, has a disclaimer that reads, "a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief."

However, the article was written rather convincingly. Apparently, it was effective enough to confuse a large number of 'GTA' series fans, many of whom vocalized their opinions through social media sites.

The article read that Rockstar Games, the company behind the 'Grand Theft Auto' franchise, had just confirmed that "the next Grand theft Auto video game will take place in a city based on the city of Chicago, Illinois".

The author even went so far as to supposedly quote Rockstar Games President Sam Houser. The article reads, "'It fits perfectly, Chicago is a major U.S. city and one of the most known... We also include real car brand names'., says president of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser."

According to the false article, 'GTA 6' will actually be named "Grand Theft Auto: Lake City", based on a real Chicago city.

Beyond that, Rockstar has taken steps to reduce misconceptions by releasing public statements that warned against fake articles like the one from Huzlers. Several gamers on social sites have also taken up the public responsibility and are actively warning other users away from the inaccurate article.
