Grand Theft Auto 5 PC Release Date Sooner Than Next-Gen, 'PC Version...I Think is a Very Easy Port' Says Insider

With Grand Theft Auto 5 PC rumors swirling about, everyday it seems another person is chiming in on when the game will be released. This time, a research analyst is getting in on the action.

"Well, the PC version, you know, I think is a very easy port. So I am certain that's coming out, and I would bet anything that it comes out this year. The Xbox One and PS4 versions, not so fast, because to port from 360 to One is probably very hard. If you look at Titanfall, for example, it went the other way," said Michael Pachter, Managing DIrector of Equity Research at Wedbush Securities to Gaming Bolt.

He continued, "I think they might need to redo the code, which might take them a long time, a year or more, and that's if they spend their time and attention on that, and from everything I can tell, Rockstar's busy working on GTA Online. So I would say PC version this year, most likely. Xbox One and PS4, this year? Probably not," referring to the game coming to the next-gen Microsoft console.

Pachter is unsure of the significance of the game being ported to the next-gen because he feels most of the people that are fans of the game already have it for the older consoles.

"So it's the next 30 million who may not have bought it, so it might be a compelling title in a year. I don't think they leave a lot of money on the table, especially because it launched so late in the last console cycle that they likely already got through to those guys," he said.

While the release date may be uncertain, there are over 700,000 signatures on a petition to bring the game to the PC.

Rumors for the game have constantly been circulating with no definitive answers or revelations coming from Rockstar Studios. One of the latest speaks of a Romanian retailer listing the release dates of a PC, PS4, and Xbox One version of the game. Online store Altex is allegedly already processing pre-orders.

According to Cinema Blend, the next-gen console versions of the game will ship out on June 15. With that falling on a Sunday, Examiner has speculated the day is just a place holder until a final date is announced.

Uber Gizmo reported a similar rumor from a German retailer, who said the game should arrive at some point in June.

Other places have reported the PC version of the game will arrive in September. Numerous European publications have began listing the game on their sites, with some going as far as taking pre-orders.

Czech retailer SuperGamer.cz, claim the game is coming on June 13. However, according to some sources the information is a bit suspicious because the platform listed for the game is for "Windows Live," which is not a system currently available.
