Grammys 2016 Predictions, Performers: Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran Grab Accolades, Katy Perry Not Attending?

"To Pimp a Butterfly" singer Kendrick Lamar, "Blank Space" singer Taylor Swift, and "Thinking Out Loud" singer Ed Sheeran are predicted to grab the prize for this year's Grammy Awards while Katy Perry is reportedly not attending the event.

According to Christian Science Monitor, the Grammy Awards 2016 serves as Lamar's opportunity to take the album of the year, turning him into the first rapper to receive the accolade, which was given to Outkast in 2004 for "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below."

With 11 nominations, Lamar now stands as the lead for the said award and he could also win the other rap categories, as per the publication. However, it is assumed that the "To Pimp a Butterfly" artist will not grab all major awards, since he has tough competition with Swift, Sheeran, Alabama Shakes, and the Weekend, among others.

Swift's "1989" album takes her to the lead for the album of the year award, since the said album's sales was gigantic, in addition to its seven hit singles, and a grandiose artist-filled world tour.

As per the publication, Sheeran, along with John Mayer, could win for the Record of the Year award. Grammy voters reportedly "adore" male singer-composers in line with the James Taylor tradition. Competition is also "fierce" between Sheeran "Thinking Out Loud" and Taylor's "Blank Space."

In other news, Perry is reportedly not attending the Grammy Awards. According to New York Times, the "Firework" artist is planning a party instead. As per he publication, the singer is set to host a black-tie dinner themed "An Evening to Celebrate the Creators" for her co-artists who usually populate Grammy-weekend linkage events.

In an interview with the publication, Perry said artists were always looking for a way to connect with each other, but they did not get that authentic connection because they were either being pulled or pushed. Along with Perry, the said event will be hosted by producer Greg Kurstin, singer-songwriter Sia, and "WTF" artist Missy Elliott.

The Grammy Awards 2016 is set to air on Feb. 15 on CBS from Staples Center in Los Angeles.
