Grammy Awards 2015 News: Top Winners Sam Smith, Beck, Pharrell, and Beyonce Win Big

As usual, the annual Grammy's awards managed to be an eventful night with some memorable moments. Amidst much talk of who deserved to win what, there were many artists that walked away with winning big.

Among these artist is one of the newest ones on the scene, Sam Smith. Mr. Smith did not only take home 'Best New Artist', but 'Record of the Year', 'Best Vocal Album', and 'Song of the Year'.

"I want to thank the man who this record is about," Smith said in his acceptance speech, "Thank you so much for breaking my heart, 'cause you got me four Grammys."

The young British singer is only 22-years-old and earned American recognition after his smash single, 'Stay With Me'.

Rock artist Beck took home the prize for best album, making it one of the more controversial wins of the night.

"Beck's win, for 'Morning Phase', was a classic Grammy surprise, as the awards' voters chose a modest-selling but critically admired album in a rock context over bigger pop hits. Among its competitors were Mr. Smith's 'In the Lonely Hour'; Beyoncé's self-titled, multimedia album; and Ed Sheeran's 'x', a hit around the world on streaming services like Spotify," writes NY Times.

Other wins include Pharrell for 'Best Music Video', 'Best Pop Solo Performance', and 'Best Urban Contemporary Album'.

Beyonce won 'Best R&B Performance', 'Best R&B song', and 'Best Surround Sound Album'.

"I'd like to say thank you to my Beyhive," Beyonce said, "Thank you guys for riding so hard."

Rappers Eminem and Kendrick Lamar shared wins in the Rap category.

"Mr. Lamar, a fast-rising young star who had walked away empty-handed last year, took best performance and song this year for 'I'. Eminem won best rap album for 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2' and shared best rap/sung collaboration with Rihanna, for 'The Monster'," writes NY Times.
