'Grace and Frankie' Renewal News: Netflix Series Slated for Season 2, Kauffman Thanks Miley Cyrus

Weeks after Grace and Frankie was released for Netflix streaming, the show has been renewed for a second season.

The show has been praised for its cast, although it has been criticized for being trite, despite focusing on a topic that is hardly seen on television.

The show stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, two 70 year old women whose husbands are law partners.

Their husbands reveal to them that they have been cheating on their wives with each other for 20 years and that they plan to leave their wives and marry each other.

The show follows the lives of the ex husbands, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, and Grace and Frankie, played by Fonda and Tomlin, respectively.

Also followed in the show, are the lives of the children of the two couples.

The renewal was announced earlier this week on a panel at the Pacific Design Center, which included Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen, Kauffman and Morris. The next season is set to debut sometime in 2016.

Kauffman commented on the decision, made by Netflix, and was delighted mostly at how fast the process is with Netflix, as well as the effects that binge watching can have on the rise of a show's popularity almost instantly.

Kauffman stated, "Let me say, it's so awesome to do a show on Netflix because, two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, 'We'd like to do a season two.' So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted and Miley to thank."
