'Gotham' Season 2 News: Dr. Freeze and The Joker Confirmed Next Installment
Some really exciting news regarding Fox's upcoming second season of 'Gotham' has recently been announced via the show's Upfront presentation.
It has been confirmed that Mr. Freeze along with the sparingly introduced Joker will play a huge role in the next installment.
Showrunner Bruno Heller has already revealed his plans to embellish the Joker character in season 2, and we've already got a soft teaser on where they plan to take him in this season, however Mr. Freeze is a component fans weren't expecting to see so soon.
Freeze's origin story is fairly complex and his character can get pretty dark, making his introduction all that more exciting.
"Mr. Freeze began life as Dr. Victor Fries, a cryogenics scientist whose attempts to cure his terminally ill wife Nora end in an accident where he must wear a cryogenic suit in order to stay alive. It's a tad more complicated than just 'a guy who waddles like a penguin,' sure, but we all know that Gotham is a series meant for over-the-top personalities and situations," writes Cinema Blend.
With the dismissal of some of the less popular villains, season 2 can now usher in The Riddler, Mad Hatter, Clayface, and many others.
There is currently no names attached to who will be portraying Dr. Freeze, but it is suspected the first season's actor will be back to reprise the Joker.
"We're going to find out how the hell Jerome, the proto-Joker we met earlier in this season, connects with the Joker as people known him," Heller says in an interview with THR. "That's the big focus of the beginning of the second season. We're going to tell the story of how the Joker came to be. That's teaser enough, I think."
'Gotham' will make its return to Fox in the fall.
