Cameron Monaghan's Joker is back on Gotham. After his terrifying and chilling appearance on season one of the show, fans now have their first look at his victorious return to the series.

Monaghan posted a photograph of his version of the Joker, or Jerome as he is known during the time period in which Monaghan is portraying him.

It seems that this season viewers will get to travel much deeper into the iconic character's past and the roots of his nightmare causing smile.

Monaghan caption the picture with the simple hashtag, #Gotham.

In the picture, which he posted to Instagram on July 8th and is black and white, the Joker's trademark twisted smile is featured.

He stands in front of a white wall with height measurements, which of course indicates that he is waiting for a mugshot.

The Joker's laugh which made a huge impression on viewers during the first season took a lot of time for Monaghan to master.
He spent several hours trying to master the howling for that role and the preparation for it almost got him in trouble according to his accounts.

"I'm surprised by neighbors didn't call the cops on me because I spent those weeks [preparing] constantly laughing and staring at myself in the mirror," said Monaghan in an interview with Comic Book Resources. "Even if I was driving my car to get food or something, I was repeating the monologue. I allowed myself to be a crazy person."

Even though his neighbors may have been unhappy, it is clear that Monaghan's fans and fans of Gotham cannot be more excited.
