Following "Gotham's" winter break, Gotham City and its inhabitants are set to experience sheer cold from one of DC Comics' most iconic villains, Mr. Freeze.

It appears that "Gotham" season 2 episode 12 will center on the ice master Mr. Freeze, who will be played by "House of Cards" star Nathan Darrow. "Gotham" executive producer John Stephens told TV Line that "Gotham" season 2 episodes 12 and 13 would focus on the cryogenecist.

Darrow also conveyed his excitement to portray the iconic villain in the Fox television series. In his interview with USA Today, Darrow sad that Victor Fries had one central intimate human connection and that was with his wide. The actor added that there was something really, really interesting and vulnerable and difficult about it.

Darrow also made an effort to explore his role. He said that in some of the research he had done on the character, he learned that Mr. Freeze had a more tenuous connection with humanity and his own humanity, and she was it.

In the comics, Fries had done extensive research on cryogenics. When his wife, Nora Fries, became terminally ill, Victor put her to suspended animation for him to be able to find a cure. He tapped GothCorp's CEO Ferris Boyle with his research, but the latter refused to approve his proposal.

Victor wants to seek revenge on his wife's death and in line with this, he had designed several weapons that were used to freeze his foes. As he could not thrive well with normal environment, he developed a cryogenic suit for himself. Nora was the only one to break Victor's coldness; but the latter's death forced Victor to unleash his icy feelings as a loner.

Meanwhile, In "Gotham" season 2 episode 11, entitled "Worse Than a Crime," James Gordon woke up in Edward Nygma's house and learned from Oswald Cobblepot that he was not an escapee from the law for two reasons. The first is for assaulting Theo Galavan while the second is not going back to GCPD despite a documented arrest.

Gordon and Cobblepot also made an plan to sneak into Galavan's residence and rescue Bruce Wayne. Leslie also knew where Gordon was through Nygma. The former tried to convince Gordon to submit himself to the GCPD, informing him that she was expecting a baby. Nygma also told Alfred and Bullock Gordon's location.

The Order of Saint Dumas was about to kill Wayne when Gordon, Bullock, Alfred, Selina Kyle, Cobblepot, and the crew reached Galavan's house. Cobblepot's crew managed to defeat the Order while the Galavans and Silver St. Cloud tried to escape. Tabitha and Silver managed to flee, leaving Theo.

Cobblepot persuaded Gordon that Theo might not be found guilty. They took Theo to the docks and killed him. Gordon found Leslie and proposed to her.

Wayne Enterprises found Theo's corpse and brought it to Indian Hill, where his body would be experimented on by Hugo Strange.

"Gotham" season 2 episode 12 airs on Feb. 29, 2016.
