'Gotham' Season 1 Spoilers, Cast News: Scarecrow and Harvey Dent Take the Screen in New Batman Based Series

It's no secret that fans of Fox's crime drama 'Gotham' love their villains. This prequel series based in the gritty, crime ridden world of the 'Batman' comic books, allows viewers to see the sordid origins of their favorite bad guys.

The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Catwoman (Carmen Bitcondova), and the Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) have already made their appearances, but fan favorites Two Face and Scarecrow have yet to appear on screen, but are reportedly set to do so.

As 'Gotham' is a prequel set before Batman (David Mazouz) wore his cowl, the writers have had to take some liberties with Dr. Johnathan Crane/Scarecrow's origin story.

Fans will be surprised to hear that the Scarecrow will be a roll taken on by two people. The role is first assumed by Dr. Crane, an evil scientist who develops a toxin that causes his victims to vividly hallucinate their worst fears. The elder Scarecrow provides a nemesis for Detective Gordon (Ben McKenzie), allowing Dr. Crane's own son to grow up to take on the role of the Scarecrow, and face-off against Batman.

Meanwhile, Two Face is being set up as a villain to contend with in the second season.

Guest star Nicholas D'Agosto revealed on a panel at Stan Lee's Comikaze, reported on by Zap2It, that District Attorney Harvey Dent will join forces with Detective Gordon. "I will be joining in for at least a couple episodes at some point in these last eight [episodes of Season 1], but I don't know when" D'Agosto teased, "[Dent] puts himself in a position where he puts a lot on the line," he continued, "Some of the things that come out of that foreshadow who he will eventually be."

'Gotham' airs Mondays at 8 pm EST on Fox.
