'Gotham', the American crime drama developed by Bruno Heller, has several exciting surprises in store for fans who catch Episode 11, which airs January 5 via FOX.

In the first half of the Batman prequels, viewers watch Gordon in his early days on the Gotham City police force. In the detective's investigation of the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, Gordan meets the murder victims' unhappy son, Bruce. Along the way, Gordan and his partner, detective Harvey Bullock, get into some trouble with Gotham's mafia families.

The series also revolves around the beginnings of several Batman villains including Penguin, Riddler, Joker, and Scarecrow.

Now that the synopsis for Episode 11, "Rogues' Gallery," has been released, 'Gotham' fans will get a glimpse into the new danger that Jim Gordan faces in the crime-ridden city.

In the mid-season finale, Jim Gordon was demoted after Lovecraft was murdered. The former detective took a security job at the Arkham Asylum, unable to stray too far away from his police background, but eager to find a position that was devoid of danger. Unfortunately for Gordon, he still has skeletons to face, as one of Arkham Asylum's guards has been murdered.

The murder investigation reunites Gordon with Bullock, and allows him to be introduced to Dr. Leslie Thompkins. Dr. Leslie is a new character in the series, and she will be played by actress Orena Baccarin, also known for her role in 'Firefly'. She may be the key to Gordon's secret investigation of the Waynes' murder.

Penguin will make his own premiere in Episode 11, although the synopsis does not give much detail on what he plans to do in 'Gotham'. However, he seems to be preoccupied with building an army in throughout this mid-season premiere.
