'Gotham' Season 1 Finale Cast News, Rumors: Jada Pinkett Smith Leaves Series?

Jada Pinkett Smith, who portrays the character of "Fish" in the popular FOX television series 'Gotham,' has revealed that she may not return to the show in its next season. ABC News reports that the actress said that her contract was yet to be renewed for another season.

Latin Post reports that Pinkett told on the 'LIVE! With Kelly and Michael' show, "I don't think so, no. I signed for a year and the year is up." She added, "But there are some great things coming ahead on 'Gotham,' believe you me. There's a lot of good stuff coming."

In another interview with Extra, the actress assured fans that her character in 'Gotham,' a crime television series based on DC Comics, will have an explosive exit in the show's finale episode.

According to Pinkett, "We're done. I did my year and I had a good time. The show is going to have an awesome finale! You never know what Fish might have up her sleeve."

"I've always been a comic book fan so it was definitely a dream to be able to participate in an origin story of Batman with an original character. Who would have thought in a million years that I would have the opportunity to do that?" Pinkett went on to say on the live show.

Meanwhile, before announcing her exit from 'Gotham,' Pinkett told Net-A-Porter that portraying the villainous character in 'Gotham' was challenging, but fun too. She said, "Playing a villain is really about diving into your own personal shadows. I wouldn't say it's easy, but it's definitely fun."

According to Pinkett, taking on the role of "Fish" was about challenging herself as a person and also as an actress.

Although, Pinkett's fans won't get to see her in the next season of 'Gotham,' they can see her in the upcoming film 'Magic Mike XXL,' which is slated to hit theaters on July 1, reports CinemaBlend.
