Gospel Newcomer Kelontae Gavin Celebrates "No Ordinary Worship" Single Success
19-year-old gospel artist Kelontae Gavin is celebrating the success of his latest single, "No Ordinary Worship," spending 14 consecutive weeks in the Top 20 on the Billboard Gospel Airplay chart and reaching No. 13 in the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart (June 30 issue). The single is written and produced by TedyP and Marquis Boone, the latter known in gospel music circles for his ability to scout promising young artists.
"No Ordinary Worship" is a cut from Gavin's eleven-track debut project, The Higher Experience, which was recorded at Fresh Start Church outside Atlanta, Ga., and released on April 27. Upon its release, the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart, spending eight weeks in the Top 15 and six weeks in the Top 10. To date, The Higher Experience is the sixth highest gospel album sales debut of 2018.
The Stellar Award-nominated Gavin became a sensation when a 2014 YouTube video of him singing the faith-filled classic, "I Won't Complain," went viral after a cafeteria worker, moved by his passion and rich vocals, recorded the song and unbeknownst to Gavin proceeded to upload it to the user-generated video streaming service.
Gavin was profiled in an article by The New York Times' pop critic Jon Caramanica, as a live-wire prodigy, and has made numerous appearances on various television shows, including BET's Joyful Noise, TV One's Sister Circle, Gospel Superfest 1, CBN News, as well as multiple local FOX, CBS, and ABC affiliate talk shows.
Gavin's debut album can be purchased and streamed everywhere now, with links to the most popular digital services and retailers available here.
