Gospel Artist Joshua Rogers Is Back After Five Year Hiatus With Upcoming Album 'Returning,' Latest Single "Pour Your Oil"
Acclaimed Gospel artist Joshua Rogers is returning with new music after a five-year hiatus and is slated to make several high-profile appearances in coming weeks, with his first slew of appearances during the 33rd Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards this weekend, including the Stellar Awards Pre-Show, and the Gospel Radio Awards & Showcase. His first musical offering coming off the hiatus is the new song "Pour Your Oil," released Feb. 8, which is also the lead single from his upcoming album Returning on his new record label Mixed Bag Music.
"Pour Your Oil" is produced by BMI's 2016 songwriter of the year Lucius B. Hoskins and showcases Rogers' multi-dimensional vocal ability on a soothing contemporary gospel worship tune. The song is a personal testimony for Rogers who has openly talked about depression due to his career, finances, and health.
Rogers' upcoming album Returning is slated for release in the second quarter this year, and follows his two previous albums, the 2012 release Well Done, which achieved No. 1 on Billboard's Top Gospel Album chart, and the 2013 record Unconditional which reached No. 2 on the Top Gospel Album chart.
In an Instagram post, Rogers told his fans about his return:
"Wow has it really been five whole years [thoughtful] No matter, GREAT THINGS AHEAD FAM!!!!! You guys have no ideas the tears and prayers that have gone before God from me these past few years!!! Yet God is so faithful and continues to blow my mind [praise]"
Rogers first rose to prominence in 2012 when he became the first male and youngest winner of BET's "Sunday Best season 5," performing in front of host Kirk Franklin and a celebrity judge panel consisting of Gospel artists Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, and CeCe Winans.
