'GoPro Karma' Drone Release Date, News & Update: Footage Lifts Veil On Top Secret Drone
Is the GoPro Karma Drone actually a ground-based device? This is what's suggested in a news site which said that the released teaser for the drone couldn't have been able to follow the Volkswagen without its flight being affected by the air pockets created by the vehicle running at top speed.
According to Imaging-Resources, either the GoPro is misrepresenting the video as being taken from the Karma Drone, or there's surprising news in store for consumers. It said that no matter how high-tech the aircraft is, it's still going to follow the laws of physics.
Also, maneuvering the aerial drone into and through tight spaces would be very difficult without dealing with the air flow.
GoPro had tipped its hand when it shared the news about the Karma Drone being released on Sept. 19, 2016. It also seemed as if the launch would be made online, based on the promo teaser made by the company.
PC Advisor pointed to the patent from Ryan Goldstein, identified as the mechanical engineer at GoPro, which shows foldable arms and removable battery.
For now, however, there's not much news on the GoPro Karma Drone because the company has been very secretive about the details on the unmanned vehicle. But one of the more impressive capabilities of the drone is that it can be launched while on the move.
The drone, of course, is just a platform. One still needs the GoPro camera that will be mounted on the aircraft. One of the teasers, however, takes videos at 4K, which is surprising considering that no GoPro camera can shoot at that level at 30fps.
