GoPro Hero 5 Black, Hero 5 Session News: Battery Life Is Still An Issue?

The GoPro Hero 5 Black and the Hero 5 Session are impressive additions indeed to the flagship's lineup. However, the news on the battery life seems to be a disappointment at least based on initial reviews of the action camera gadgets.

According to Wired, both cameras shoot video at 4K at 30 frames per second with stabilization feature. They also are waterproof up to 10 meters without the need to buy additional accessory as housing. The GoPro Hero 5 Black, however, comes with a GPS which would be a perfect match for the Karma drone.

The GoPro Hero 5 also takes 12-megapixel photos which you can immediately review via the 2-inch display panel. The Hero 5 Session, meanwhile, takes photos at 10 megapixels.

While both the GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 5 Session are billed to last longer than their predecessors, they nevertheless last for only a couple of hours during extensive use. That's certainly bad news especially if you are out doing some outdoor activity without any access to an electrical outlet.

Sean O'Kane of The Verge conceded that the Hero 5 is significantly better compared to the Hero 4 in terms of battery life. However, each device uses a brand new battery, which means you will have to buy a spare since you can't switch to the Hero 4 battery during emergencies.

The good news for the GoPro Hero 5 and Hero 5 Session is that they can be fully charged in just 45 minutes so you can resume your activity after a bit of pause. Or you can just buy a battery pack.
