GoPro Inc., manufacturer of high-definition camcorders usually used in high action video photography, recently announced that it will launch a new compact action camera called the GoPro Hero 4 Session.

According to Christian Today, the upcoming GoPro compact action camera will be a major Improvement on the previous GoPro devices. According to reports, the upcoming Hero 4 Session is expected to be the lightest as well as smallest in the series. Recently, the company announced that the next action cam is "the smallest, lightest, most convenient GoPro yet. 50% smaller and 40% lighter than GoPro's best-selling HERO4 Black and Silver cameras."

While the Session is distinctly smaller compared to the other Hero models, it still retains a number of the features present in all other GoPro action cams including different recording options. According to GoPro, the upcoming Hero 4 Session records 1080p60, 720p100 and 1440p30 video along with 8-megapixel photos in Single, Burst as well as Time Lapse modes. As far as the other upgraded features of the device are concerned, the new Hero 4 Session also comes with SuperView, Protune and Auto Low Light recording modes, which were first seen in the Hero 4 black and silver edition cameras.

Nevertheless, different from the previous GoPro action cams that require different housings for different environments, the Session comes encased in a waterproof frame, which protects the action camera from damage due to water up to a depth of 33 feet. As a result, the new action cam will not require a waterproof housing while recording underwater. Moreover, the Session comes with two microphones integrated in the assembly, allowing the cam to switch automatically during shots with a view to lessen wind noise in the recordings.

GoPro founder and CEO Nicholas Woodman praised the new Hero 4 Session action cam as the next step in upgrading GoPro devices

Woodman said, "With Hero 4 Session, we challenged ourselves to produce the smallest, lightest, most convenient GoPro possible," adding, "Hero 4 Session combines the best of our engineering and user-experience know-how to deliver our most convenient life-capture solution, yet."
