Google Play Movies, TV App Update: Airplay Support Added, Integrates With Apple
Multinational tech firm Google released an update for its Play Movies and TV app for iOS, enabling Apple TV owners to view contents using AirPlay.
On Google's app page on Apple's iTunes, it is indicated that Google Play Movies & TV sync moviees and TV shows from the Google Play account to the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch to watch on a device or on any HDTV using Chromecast or Apple TV using AirPlay.
The benefits of Google's update is not limited to Apple's AirPlay. According to Tech Times, Google also added high definition quality and mobile phone streaming, in addition to the entirety of Google Play Movies & TV's new look.
Aside from the power to stream content through 3G or 4G cellular connection, the "Recommended by Play" section is also added, where users can search new movies or TV shows based on their preferences. Previously, users can only download content for offline viewing via mobile data without streaming.
Some users have already tried the update and shared their thoughts with the changes it brought to the platform.
According to Apple user hoobacares, the movies looked so much better following the last update, as evidenced by the ability to see the different strands of hair on people and vivid colors.
On the other hand, Blazefire17 said that the app said "error" whenever he did not use the wi-FI on his iPhone. The Apple user added that he could not even e-mail the tech support about it, since the e-mail option had been deleted.
The said update will only be accessible to the fourth-generation Apple TV and third-generation devices with a 7.0 tvOS version or newer. In addition, this suggests Google's gradual integration with Apple, a strategy that is gradually adapated by other tech firms like Amazon. It is rumored that the electronic commerce company is set to integrate its Instant Video into the tvOS platform.
With the AirPlay support for Google Play Movies & TV App, users are now geared towards a more sophisticated and convenient cinematic experience.
