Google Pixel Phone Specs, Pixel XL News: Google Unveils Smartphones With Built-in Google Assistant And Daydream VR Platform
Google announced yesterday a whole slew of its new products, including the new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.
Technically, the two phones feature the same design, same processor, same storage and same camera, but are differentiated primarily by the size and resolution of their screens. While both devices are built by HTC, Google takes full credit for their design, hence the "phone by Google" branding.
Pixel and Pixel XL are powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 processor and come with built-in Google Assistant and support for Google's Daydream VR platform.
Pixel is the first phone ever launched with a built-in Google Assistant. This feature brings up photos from a particular time or place from the past and plays whatever music its user asks it to play. It also integrates the Google Now on Tap functionality, allowing users to view pertinent information on screen, such as names and addresses of restaurants.
The Pixel and Pixel XL rear camera features a 12.3-megapixel resolution with large 1.55-micron pixels and an f/2.0 aperture. It gets the highest camera rating of 89 on camera-testing website DxOMark and is touted as having "the shortest capture time on any mobile camera ever."
The devices also boast of their endless cloud storage, allowing free unlimited storage for full-resolution images and videos shot. In terms of connectivity and communications, Pixel users can get the latest Android updates directly from Google. The devices also get users up to seven hours of power in just 15 minutes of charging.
Google officially launched the Pixel device on October 4.
