Google HTC Nexus 9 vs Apple iPad Mini 3 Comparison, Specs Review: Which Tablet Is a Better Buy? Announcements October 2014

While both Google HTC Nexus 9 and Apple iPad Mini 3 have yet to be released, and neither Google nor Apple have made any official announcement regarding their respective devices, numerous speculations are making rounds on the Internet about the possible specs of these two highly-anticipated tablets.

It is rumored that Google's Nexus 9 is being manufactured by HTC and it is expected to have an 8.9-inch IPS LCD touchscreen along with a display resolution of 2048 x 1440 pixels. Apparently, the Nexus 9 is withdrawing from the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets and instead will have the Nvidia Tegra K1 chipset, together with a quad-core 2.5GHz processor as well as a ULP GeForce Kepler GPU.

Moreover, Google HTC Nexus 9 will come in two variants - a 16GB and a 32GB storage version and will have 2GB of RAM. The device will also come with microSD card support of up to 128GB and an 8-megapixel camera equipped with full HD video recording at 30 frames-per-second. There are rumors that Google HTC Nexus 9 will run on the latest Google mobile OS, Android L (Android 5.0).

On the other hand, very little information regarding the specs of the iPad Mini 3, which is rumored to be named the iPad Mini Air, is available until now. However, there are speculations that it will feature a 7.9-inch display on a thinner aluminum frame. Its screen resolutions may be the same as its predecessor, but iPad Mini 3 may get an upgrade - possibly an anti-glare coating.

As far as the specs are concerned, the iPad Mini 3 may possibly follow the iPhone 6 in terms of chipset - going for the latest 64-bit A8 chip, a dual-core processor as well as a somewhat more powerful PowerVR GPU. As expected, it would be running the iOS 8 and could get also the TouchID fingerprint scanner.

Although details regarding either device are scarce and hold little water, there are rumors that Apple and HTC will be holding press conferences this October, where both companies are going to announce their respective devices.
