Google Glass 2 News, Release Date Rumors: Details on Specs & Features to be Revealed at Google I/O 2015?
While news about Google Glass 2 is limited, rumors about the device have been circulating online. One major rumor in particular, says that the new version of the headset will be released sometime in 2015.
When that is exactly, is unclear, but there is a chance that official news will come during the Google I/O which will be held in June 2015. Google has previously introduced their new releases during the same annual event, and an intro to Google Glass 2 on the day is not unlikely.
News has also broke about Google partnering up with Intel as the device's chip provider instead of Texas Instruments. Google has worked with Intel before with their plans for the Nexus Player and for self-driving cars. With Intel's help, Google may be able to improve the Google Glass 2's battery life and also utilize Intel's marketing team.
As for pricing, the second installment will most likely be more affordable than the original Google Glass, if Google wants to ensure marketability and appeal to the masses, according to PC Advisor.
News has also popped up on a patent recently filed by Google, which might be the company's new take on the future of Google Glass.
As it stands, there's some pictures floating around the Internet that showcase an alleged Google Glass 2. In the photos, the wraparound frame is still present, though the design has it curving behind the ears to keep it in place. The Glass prism is now attached to a side unit and mounted over the left eye.
Google also nixed the lopsided look that did not seem to appeal much to the masses and they stripped down their new design.
For now though, fans and tech enthusiasts will have to wait patiently for all these rumors to be settled when Google official unveils the details about their upcoming eyewear.
