Google Duo News & Updates: Total Downloads Surpasses 5 Million Mark
Google Duo continues to be one of the most popular apps on the Google Play store, much more so than Pokemon Go in fact. Now, a news report has revealed that the total downloads for the app has already surpassed 5 million.
This was revealed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai himself in a recent tweet.
According to Indian Express, the popularity of Google Duo can be attributed to the efficiency and ease of use. Registering and signing in are a breeze, while the search giant also simplified the process of calling somebody in your contacts. There's also the fact that the app will work both on Android or iOS devices.
According to the product manager for the app, the Google Duo works as well as the user's network.
But there's a neat little trick in the app which automatically adjusts the video resolution if the signal is weak.
Google Duo also debuted its voice-only service, which is even more good news for those who live in countries where Internet is very slow.
Although Google Duo is up against more established apps like Facebook, Skype and Apple's FaceTime, the new app still manage to impress KTLA's Rich Demuro.
"I've noticed that the video quality on Duo is better than FaceTime," he wrote. "Google says it has worked to make your video calls look great whether you're on WiFi, cellular or a combination of both."
Watch out for more news on the Google Duo which will be published here whenever they come along.
