Google Chrome News & Update: Improved Battery Performance And Dark ‘Incognito Mode’ Announced

One of the most common complaints for the Google Chrome is how it quickly sucks the battery life of any laptop. But the search giant has offered some good news as it drastically improved battery performance with the latest updated browser.

According to The Verge, Microsoft has been trying to show that its new browser, Edge, consumes less battery life compared to the Firefox and Chrome. It ran an experiment with simultaneous usage of videos, articles, tab and website openings.

The experiment shows that Microsoft Edge performed better compared to the Chrome, which was even worse than Firefox.

However, it seems Google has addressed the battery life issue on its browser, which would be good news to people who have been using Chrome for a long time and might not be open to trying out other browsers.

Meanwhile, Google shared the news in a blog post that Chrome 53 will be released on stable channels for the Mac, Windows and Linux in the coming days.

"Chrome 53.0.2785.89 (for Windows and Mac) and 53.0.2785.92 (for Linux) contains a number of fixes and improvements," it said. "Watch out for upcoming Chrome and Chromium blog posts about new features and big efforts delivered in 53."

Previously, it was reported that the Google Cast is now fully integrated into the Chrome. That means users just need to activate it, and don't need to install or configure their browser.

This extension allows users to transfer content on their laptop and onto the TV. It said that since the launch of the program, people using Cast have already viewed 50 million hours of content.
