Google 4K Chromecast Ultra News & Update: First Look At New Digital Media Player

The hype surrounding the Google's hardware launch on Oct. 4 revolves around the two Android Nougat phones, Pixel and Pixel XL. However, not many people may know it but the 4K Chromecast Ultra dongle will also be unveiled in the same event.

Admittedly, the device looks weird. Like a one-eared headphone, but the digital media player is reportedly capable of playing 4K content on its 1.21 firmware version, which at this point is still in the beta stage.

That cable? It's HDMI.

According to several news reports, the Google 4K Chromecast Ultra will reportedly cost $69 in retail, compared to just $35 for the Chromecast dongle. That doesn't mean that the search giant will ditch the cheaper option since not everybody is impressed with 4K.

The 4K Chromecast Ultra is attached to the HDMI cable of your high-resolution TV and you can stream content from your mobile phone and into your television. This is beneficial for two things: first you get a bigger screen, and you save on the battery life of your phone.

One change to this new dongle is the gray "G" logo on the face, which seemed to suggest that Google is launching products under a unified branding.

PC World said the news of the Google 4K Chromecast Ultra should make waves because even though not a lot of people own 4K television sets, it's getting cheaper by the day. With advancing technology, the price is only going to go down.

Watch out for more news on the Google 4K Chromecast Ultra, which will be published here when they come along.
