'Gone Girl' Sequel News: Author Gillian Flynn Hints that Second Film is Possible

'Gone Girl' garnered numerous awards and nominations after it was released last year, and now authoress Gillian Flynn has spoken up to admit that she may have a few ideas about a potential sequel.

'Gone Girl' is a thriller film directed by David Fincher and adapted from the 2012 novel of the same name written by Flynn. Since the film's release last year, fans have been wondering about the possibility of sequel, despite the definitive ending. However, Flynn recently spoke up saying that she already had a direction in mind on how to continue the story.

"There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together. It could be really fun a few years from now," she said during an interview with New York Daily News at the BAFTA LA Annual Awards Season Tea Party.

She added though that she would prefer to have the exact same cast do it with her, specifically Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike and Fincher.

As for what story the sequel would be about, Flynn said, "We could pick up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on - not well, I don't think."

As fans could remember Affleck and Pike play Nick and Amy Dunne, respectively, a married couple who hid a lot of secrets and even resentment for one another. Amy disappears under mysterious circumstances, leading Nick to be suspected of murdering his own wife.

It ended with a twist though as Amy returned, getting away with faking her own death and murder. Nick, on the other hand, has an unfortunate ending, stuck with a complete psychopath, trapped in his marriage and forced to raise a family with Amy, according to Cinema Blend.

With Flynn making plans for a possible sequel, it will definitely be interesting to see what else she'll add to the grim tale.
