Golden State Warriors News: Stephen Curry Sets Record for Most Threes in Postseason
The Golden State Warriors have looked unbeatable for most of the season, and league MVP Stephen Curry has been a huge part of the Warriors' juggernaut all throughout both the regular and postseason. And in their Game 3 win against the Houston Rockets, Curry added yet another record to his magical season.
With 4:32 remaining in the second quarter, Curry hit a deep three pointer that took his total for threes made this postseason to 59, breaking the previous record for threes made in a single postseason set by Reggie Miller back in 2000 when he made 58.
As noted by Ball Don't Lie, Miller needed 22 games and 147 attempts to set his record of 58. Curry needed just 13 games and 138 attempts to reach his mark. The MVP also broke the record for made three pointers in a season, surpassing his own mark of 272.
Curry was in full video game mode after setting the record in Game 3, adding five more three pointers on his way to 40 points, five rebounds, and seven assists in an absolutely brilliant performance in the Warriors' 115-80 trashing of the Rockets that gave them a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals.
"You know what I want? Danny Green's," Curry replied when asked what record he would like to break next referring to San Antonio Spur Danny Green's record for most three pointers made in the NBA Finals.
He is one win away from making his first trip to the NBA Finals. In 13 games this postseason, Curry is averaging 299 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the Warriors and the Rockets is scheduled for Monday, May 25 at 9 p.m. ET. You can catch the action via live streaming here.
