Golden State Warriors NBA 2015 News: Klay Thompson Does Not Have a Concussion

For the second time in as many games, a Splash Brother had a concussion scare. The Golden State Warriors booked a trip to the NBA Finals for the first time in 40 years after beating the Houston Rockets in Game 5 104-90, but it didn't come without a price.

Early in the fourth quarter, Klay Thompson got kneed to the head after a pump fake sent the Rockets' Trevor Ariza flying at him. Thompson left the game immediately but was shortly after diagnosed with just an ear laceration.

After the game, though, the All-Star began vomiting and appeared to experience concussion-like symptoms. Thompson also had to be driven home by his father and former Los Angeles Laker Mychal Thompson.

But his agent, Billy Duffy has told USA Today that Thompson does not have a concussion after all. "My understanding is that it was negative," Duffy said of the test and answered "No" when asked if his client had a concussion.

Thompson will still have to meet with a neurologist before a final verdict is made.

Added Duffy, "I have absolutely no problems with how this was handled. I think Klay was communicated with. There was no pressure whatsoever. It's absolute that this was handled the right way, with communication between the team and us, so I see no issue whatsoever, or no need for scrutiny. To me, it's a non-issue as to how it was handled.

The game before, Steph Curry also had to be checked for concussion symptoms after falling awkwardly after going for a block against Ariza. After a series of tests, doctors cleared the league MVP to play in Game 5.

The Warriors will have an entire week off before hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers for Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals. The two teams meet June 4 with tip-off scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
