Golden Globes Nominations 2016: Surprising Snubs? Set To Air On January 10
The Hollywood Foreign Press revealed the nominees for the 2016 Golden Globes.
According to Huffington Post, "Rocky Balboa" actor Sylvester Stallone was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for reprising Rocky Balboa's role in Ryan Coogler's sports drama film "Creed," which performed well in the box office and got an A rating from Cinema Score. Stallone was also nominated as Best Actor for the 1976 film "Rocky Balboa."
Aside from "Mad Max: Fury Road" becoming a contender for a possible Academy Award Best Picture and Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture Drama, "Black Mass" star Johnny Depp was snubbed for Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, along with Tom Hardy for either "The Revenant" or "Legend."
The Best Screenplay for Motion Picture nominees include "Room's" Emma Donoghue, "Spotlight's" Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer, "The Big Short's" Adam McKay and Charles Randolph, "Steve Jobs'" Aaron Sorkin, and "The Hateful Eight's" Quentin Tarantino.
For the Best Animated Motion Picture, the nominees were "The Good Dinosaur," "Anomalisa," "Inside Out," "The Peanuts Movie," and "Shaun the Sheep Movie."
With regard the best drama television series, the nominees are Fox's "Empire," HBO's "Game of Thrones," USA's "Mr. Robot," Netflix's "Narcos," and Starz's "Outlander."
When it comes to film titles, "Creed," "The Revenant," "Spotlight," "Room," and "Mad Max: Fury Road" got Golden Globe nominations for the dramatic film genre, according to Los Angeles Times. The motion picture comedy or musical category nominations were grabbed by "The Martian," "Trainwreck," "Spy," "The Big Short," and "Joy."
Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the 73rd Golden Globes is set to air on Jan. 10 at 5p.m. on NBC.
